A classical painting of a woman lying on the ground in a forested landscape, with a white dress and orange sash, surrounded by trees and flowers.
Two men are sitting on the floor, one washing the other's feet in a basin. They are surrounded by bottles of beer and a small table with beer cans. The background is plain with a soft pinkish-beige color, and the words 'salt + gold' are written in the bottom right corner.

No one is too broken for his touch

Jesus struggled too

Even though He was fully God, He was also fully human, which meant He felt hunger, fatigue, sorrow, grief, temptation, and even deep emotional anguish.

Here are a few examples from Scripture:

  • Temptation in the wilderness

Jesus was tempted by Satan after 40 days of fasting. He felt hunger, weakness, and the pull of temptation — but resisted by quoting God’s Word.

    (Matthew 4:1–11)

  • Grief at Lazarus’ death

Jesus was “deeply moved” and even wept when His friend Lazarus died, showing His compassion and shared pain.

    (John 11:33–35)

  • Emotional agony in Gethsemane

In the garden before His crucifixion, Jesus prayed in such anguish that His sweat was “like drops of blood.” He asked the Father if the suffering could be taken from Him — but still surrendered to God’s will.

    (Luke 22:44)

  • Loneliness and betrayal

His disciples abandoned Him in His hour of greatest need, yet He still forgave and loved them.

    (Matthew 26:56)

The beauty for a recovery ministry is that Jesus understands our pain because He’s felt it Himself.

Hebrews 4:15 puts it best:

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

He meets you in your mess, washes you in his mercy, lifts you in his love

Jesus touches man who is depressed.
